Welcome!

Hi, everyone. Welcome to my new blog. Perhaps I shouldn't admit this but I've never blogged before so please bear with me as I try to make it user-friendly and interesting.

Allow me to briefly introduce myself: My name is Susan Mulvihill and I write the garden columns that appear each Sunday in The Spokesman-Review newspaper. I live on 5 acres in Eastern Washington and my favorite type of gardening is vegetable gardening. My garden is comprised of 23 raised beds and boy do I love them! I will post some photos during the summer so you can see how the garden is coming along, but intend write posts on all sorts of gardening topics. So if veggie gardening isn't your thing, just wait - there will be a lot of other garden-related subjects to talk about.

I am also a Master Gardener with Washington State University - Spokane County. This region is in USDA zone 5 which means our winter temperatures can go down to as low as -20 F. Gardening can be a challenge at times but we still can grow awesome gardens.

I promise to make this blog useful and fun, with timely gardening tips and information. Be sure to let me know how you like it and what your thoughts are regarding the individual posts.

Happy gardening!
Susan
