Here is a cool-looking annual to consider planting next spring. It is known as the Monkeyflower or Mimulus and comes in a lot of neat colors.
This plant will do well in all types of soil although it prefers well-drained soil. It grows to a height of about 10 inches and will take full sun or part shade. But its best feature of all is its abundance of perky, colorful flowers. Check out this one on the Park Seed website, 'Magic White Blotch hybrid.' Park Seed also sells a Monkeyflower mix. I'm definitely going to add it to my list of plants to grow in 2011.
