One of my favorite annuals is the zinnia. They look so bright and perky in the garden and they make wonderful cut flowers because they really soak up the water.
I got the seeds for this zinnia from Renee's Garden Seeds and the variety is 'Decor.' In addition to this apricot-colored flower, the packet includes seeds for chartreuse flowers. Pretty cool, eh?
These zinnias love the sunshine so you would want to plant them in a spot where they'll get a minimum of 6 hours of sun daily. I started the seeds indoors about a month before our last frost (about mid-April). The seeds should be planted 1/2-inch deep and they will take about a week to germinate.
When I transplanted them out in the garden, I spaced them about a foot apart. The mature height of the zinnias is from 3 to 3 1/2 feet. I always plant them in my veggie garden to add some color to it.
