Yesterday, I wandered around the Gaiser Conservatory at Manito Park and found it to be very therapeutic and enjoyable. They have huge collection of cacti and succulents - all with interesting shapes and textures - and many different types of tropical plants. Everything is beautifully displayed and maintained.
If you've never been to the Conservatory, or if it's been a while since you've been there, I urge you to take an hour out of your day for a visit. Manito Park is located at 4 W. 21st Ave. on Spokane's South Hill, and the Conservatory is located on the south side of the park, sandwiched in between the Joel E. Ferris Perennial Garden and Duncan Garden. Conservatory hours are currently 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily, but during the months of Sept. and Oct., they will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Speaking of Duncan Garden, the formal garden is looking positively radiant these days. We are lucky to have such a jewel of a park nearby. For more information on Manito Park, go to thefriendsofmanito.org.
