This rainy weather is not helping ripen any of our tomatoes, is it? Last week, we had a light drizzle and I probably should have covered them since the rain causes tomatoes - particularly cherry tomatoes - to split. And, boy did they ever.
So here we go again with the rain. If you have a lot of tomatoes that are starting to ripen, you could drape a tarp over the plants while it's raining to cut down on the amount of splitting.
The photo above is of our 'Tomaccio' cherry tomatoes. You can see they're really being productive, although with the crazy weather we've had during this growing season, we probably won't get as many as we normally would. Let's hope for a more normal spring and summer next year!
