Uh oh. This morning, while heading out to get the newspaper, I discovered we had "visitors" to the lavender patch. That'd be visitors in the form of deer.
When we planted our little field of 300 lavender plants several years ago, one of the reasons we chose lavender is because deer don't like to eat it. And that has been the case this whole time.
But this morning, when I headed out into the snow flurries, I realized I had company. This beautiful buck was munching on something in the lavender patch - I'm hoping it was just some type of weed or perhaps some of the dried lavender flower heads. Either of those scenarios would be OK with me. But if they've acquired a taste for the lavender plants themselves, that will truly be discouraging!
Stay tuned...
