Events - Cabin Fever Gardening Symposium

Calling all avid and/or aspiring gardeners! There is another event coming up that you should know about. It's called the Cabin Fever Gardening Symposium and is put on by the WSU-Spokane County Master Gardener program.

It will be held on Mon., Feb. 21 - that is President's Day so you probably won't have trouble getting that day off. This all-day event includes breakfast, lunch and your choice of four classes out of a total of 16 gardening classes on a wide variety of subjects.

The class topics include Organic Vegetable Gardening, Planning a Home Greenhouse, Xeriscaping, Gardening in the Inland Northwest 101, Drip Irrigation, Shade Gardening, Planting and Pruning Trees and Shrubs, Growing Berries, Growing and Using Culinary Herbs, Wicked Weeds of the West, Composting 101, Surround Yourself with Nature, Alternative Lawns, Urban Gardening, Gardening in Raised Beds, and Propagation.

I will be giving the presentation on raised bed gardening which is one of my favorite topics.

The event runs from 7:30 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. and costs $60. This is the second year the Cabin Fever Gardening Symposium is being held and it was a roaring success last year. We had great attendance and rave reviews from all of the attendees. And why not? It's a great way to immerse yourself in your favorite pastime and ease into the coming growing season.

To register for the program or to learn more about it, go to the online class flyer. If this sounds intriguing, I would recommend registering as early as possible before it sells out.

I hope you can make it - you will have a great time!
