Events - Horticulture class series

If you would like to learn all about gardening, have I got a deal for you.

The Spokane County Master Gardeners will hold their "Horticulture class series" beginning Feb. 10 and running through Apr. 28. Classes will be held on Thursdays from 6 to 9 p.m.

Garden topics include gardening in the Inland Northwest; soils and composting; plant structure, growth and development; planting and pruning trees and shrubs; plant problems and diseases; lawns and groundcovers; vegetable gardening; landscape design and maintenance; herbaceous ornamentals; weeds and herbicides; entomology and insect management; and low-maintenance landscaping.

Attendees will learn from the same materials Master Gardener trainees study but won't be required to donate volunteer time each year and will not be certified as Master Gardener volunteers. The course costs $250. To pre-register and to learn more about the classes, call (509) 477-2183. Seating is limited and pre-registration is necessary.
