Bulb-forcing test report

Back in November, I reported here that I was testing a new product called the "Bulb Box" (see earlier post about this). It is used for forcing bulbs for an earlier bloom and also for starting seeds that need special temperatures and conditions for germination.

This morning, I brought in the two pots of bulbs. They each stayed in the Bulb Box for about 12 weeks. I planted hyacinths, narcissus, tulips and grape hyacinths in the pots.

As you can see by the photo, the bulbs are up a couple of inches at this point. I have moved them to a sunny window to help them continue growing.

It's hard to weigh in at this point on how well the Bulb Box performed for forcing bulbs. But once the pots of bulbs are in bloom, I'll let you know what I think. I suppose if I had done this more scientifically, I should have planted a pot of bulbs at the same time but not stored it in the Bulb Box as a "control group." Oh well, that's 20/20 hindsight for you!

I also plan to start some seeds in the Bulb Box in a couple of weeks as that will certainly be an important function that gardeners would find useful. Stay tuned...
