More new products

As someone who gives a lot of presentations on raised-bed gardening, I'm always interested in new products that promote this type of gardening. While at the Northwest Flower & Garden Show last week, two such products caught my eye.

One booth had beautifully-made raised beds of varying heights and styles. Some were raised up on legs which would be perfect for a gardener who has difficulty getting down to ground level (see top photo). The beds are manufactured by North Cascades Raised Beds and you can learn more about them by going to ncraisedbeds.com. The owner of the company, Steve Ferse, was telling me that he uses clear Western Red Cedar and sheet aluminum that comes in a variety of colors. The beds have a five-year warranty.

The other product that I saw was the UrBin Grower (see 2nd and 3rd photos). They sell self-watering containers that come with seeding trays, soil amendments with trace minerals, an instruction manual and DVD. These containers would allow gardeners who have very limited space to grow veggies and flowers. A set of two UrBin growers costs $89.95. Their web site is located at naturesfootprintinc.com.
