Don't forget that tomorrow is the Spokane Rose Society's annual Rose Show. It will be held at Northland Rosarium from 12 to 4 p.m. Northland is located at 9405 S. Williams Ln. in southwest Spokane. I wrote about the Rose Show in last Sunday's (June 19th) paper. Scroll down this page for a link to the column.
On Saturday, July 9, Northland Rosarium will host "A Day in the Garden." The event will feature their beautiful display gardens, talks given by Spokane Rose Society members, roses that do well in the Spokane area, a rose sale and vendors.
This event takes place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. If you haven't yet made it to Northland Rosarium, take this opportunity! Northland sells own-root roses rather than grafted roses.
What does that mean? Well, own-root roses are much hardier for the Inland Northwest because grafted roses are particularly sensitive in the grafted area to our cold winter weather. Own-root roses are the only type I buy because they are so hardy and easy to care for.
