Vegetables - Pole beans

Hooray, it's time to start picking beans! For those of you who read my column or visit this blog regularly, I've had quite the bean experiment going for three garden seasons now.

I use an arbor that spans the pathway between two of my raised beds for growing pole beans. This makes it a breeze to pick the beans, particularly while I'm in the shade under the arbor. My favorite pole bean to grow is 'Italian Pole Bean' from Seeds of Change.

At this point, most of the beans have made it to the top of the arbor and are heading over to the other side. Talk about your over-achievers!

You can see the little harvest we had for last night's dinner in the photo. They were absolutely divine.
