My husband Bill and I took a stroll through Finch Arboretum today, hoping that the fall colors would be in full swing. Well, it turns out that they're just barely getting started. I think we need a good frost (that is, if you can call a frost "good") to really get a colorful display, and that just hasn't happened in Spokane yet.
There were a lot of folks wandering around the arboretum this afternoon, taking photos and enjoying the beauty of their surroundings, though. I took the above photo of one of the few trees that was displaying some pretty colors. Even though it's just one tree, notice how it really stands out in the landscape.
So if you have been wondering if it's time to pay Finch Arboretum a visit, I'd recommend waiting a bit longer, perhaps after a hard frost. If you hit it just right, on a bright sunny day, you will have hit the jackpot!
