First pea harvest

Well, it might not look like much but we've finally started harvesting our peas. After all of our crazy wet, windy and cold weather this spring and early summer, it's no wonder they're a bit behind schedule. I picked a large bowl full of pods and my husband Bill and I just finished shelling them.

The variety is 'Green Arrow Bush' which came from Ed Hume Seeds. This has to be one of the most prolific pea varieties I've ever grown as the 2' tall vines are just covered with pods. I'm hoping the hot weather in the forecast for this weekend won't be too hard on the plants.

But for now, I can't wait to feast on some steamed peas with a little bit of butter on top. Mmm-mmmm!

Stay cool.
