Holy cow! Here I thought I was done with gardening for the day when I happened to walk past the bean arbor and discover that they've been busy. And there weren't just a few beans to pick; there was a whole bunch!
You might recall that I'm conducting an unscientific experiment this year to see if my old tried-and-true bean variety ('Italian pole') is more productive than the other two I'm testing ('Musica' and 'Smeraldo'). If you look at the box on the left in the photo above, that's the 'Italian pole' bean harvest. There were so few beans of the other varieties that I decided to lump them together in the box on the right.
At this point, 'Italian pole' gets my vote but I also realize it's still early in the bean-picking season. It's kind of fun to compare, though.
