Gardening classes

I wanted to give you a heads-up about a wonderful learning opportunity that starts next month.

The WSU/Spokane County Master Gardeners will be presenting their Horticulture Class Series on Thursday evenings, from Jan. 10 through Mar. 28. They will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. each week.

If you want to learn about topics like vegetable gardening, pruning, lawn care, botany, soils, growing berries and small fruits, diagosing plant problems, and dealing with garden critters like deer, gophers and squirrels, this is the class for you.

It is essentially the same training that Master Gardeners go through but in this case, you pay for the training but won't have any volunteer obligations. The cost of the series of classes is $275.

The classes will be held at the WSU/Spokane County Extension Education Center, 222 N. Havana St., which is just south of the Fairgrounds. You can view the class flyer by going here. You can also learn more by going to the Master Gardener web site, or by calling (509) 477-2048.

I will be teaching the class on dealing with critters on Mar. 14 and am excited to share what I've learned about this annoying issue!

This class series is always very popular so don't delay registering if you're interested.
