Here is a link to my column in today's edition of The Spokesman-Review: Tour lets visitors in on shade garden secrets. It is a preview of the Associated Garden Clubs of Spokane's "Other Gardeners' Edens" garden tour, which is next Sunday, Aug. 11, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The tour will showcase five South Hill gardens that have never been part of a tour before.
I took these photos while interviewing Norma Norton, who lives at 729 E. 23rd Ave. She has created a delightful garden that is fairly shady, yet she is able to grow a lot of sun-loving plants.
Tickets cost $10, although children under 12 get in free. You can purchase tickets early at Judy's Enchanted Garden, 2628 W. Northwest Blvd., or at Northwest Seed & Pet, 2422 E. Sprague. Or you can purchase tickets the day of the tour at any of these tour locations:
- 729 E. 23rd Ave.
- 245 E. 13th Ave.
- 1910 S. Upper Terrace Rd.
- 31 W. 37th Ave.
- 1004 W. 23 Ave.
Hope to see you there!
