There is a fun event coming up that I wanted to make sure you knew about: It's the Master Gardener Foundation Fall Banquet & Silent Auction. It is open to all, not just Master Gardeners, and will feature guest speaker, West-side garden guru Ciscoe Morris.
It takes place on Thursday, Oct. 17, 2013, starting at 5 p.m. It will be held in The Lincoln Center, 1316 N. Lincoln St., Spokane. Ciscoe is always fun and entertaining to listen to. He has a weekly radio show on the West side -- "Gardening with Ciscoe" -- and does many TV appearances with Meeghan Black. He will speak on "Tips for an Environmentally-Friendly Garden," which is a great topic we can all learn from.
The silent auction is always full of wonderful items that we'd all like to take home: themed gift baskets, gardening items, and more. There will be door prizes as well. All proceeds from the silent auction will go toward the Spokane County Master Gardener program.
Here's the schedule:
- 5 p.m. No-host social
- 6 p.m. Dinner
- 6:45 p.m. Guest speaker, Ciscoe Morris
The cost for the whole evening is $35. You can purchase your tickets online at www.mgfsc.org, or by check (mail to MGFSC, 222 N. Havana St., Spokane, WA 992202), or in person at the Master Gardener plant clinic which is located at the same address. Please note that tickets are only available until Oct. 13, so they can let the caterer know how much food to prepare.
I hope you can come to this fun event. It's a great way to close the 2013 gardening season and embrace fall!
