Besides looking cool, it seems like a very clever way to keep one's orchids all together without taking up much room.
Orchids are typically grown in bark so the pots hardly weigh anything. That means you could hang a whole bunch of them and still have a very light frame. Pretty cool, huh?
I do like the vertical space-saving approach, but be sure that your pots are off-center from one another so that water/fertilizer from an upper one does not drip into the one beneath it. Not only the dripping water cause a "salt" buildup from the fertilizer, but some types of orchids (like phalaenopsis) do not like water to have sitting water in their crowns - causes rots and ultimately death of the plant...
ReplyDeleteBTW - my major beef with most garden shows are that many displays are pure fantasy, full of zone denial plants, and cannot be duplicated in real life! Many an unwary gardener has been led astray thinking what they see can be recreated in their own gardens.
