It's hard to believe we're at the end of March already, but that just means we're getting closer to more pleasant weather and getting to be out in the garden on a regular basis. Hooray for that!
Here is a link to my column in today's edition of The Spokesman-Review: Get early start with spinach, chard. The topic is on growing two cool-season crops, Swiss chard and spinach. Both are pretty easy to grow, although they can get an annoying insect called the leaf miner.
Fortunately, there's a simple solution to this problem which you'll find in my column! You'll also learn why chard is called Swiss chard... great trivia to know for when you're a contestant on "Who Wants to be a Millionaire?" ;o)
If you're wondering what that plant is in the above photo, it is 'Silverado' Swiss chard. Isn't it a beauty?
