Last Sunday, my column was about attracting hummingbirds and butterflies to the garden. One of my favorite plants for this is the Penstemon (Beardtongue). They look beautiful in the landscape and the flowers come in all sorts of shades of purple and pink. They're very easy to care for and quite hardy. They prefer a sunny site but will tolerate part shade. They range in height from 12 to 18 inches.
