I've received a lot of e-mail from readers who have gotten a kick out of the way we grow our pole beans. I got the idea the year before last to grow them on an arbor that would span the aisle between two of our raised beds. It seemed like a good idea at the time but I wasn't sure it would work.
It worked great last year so I decided to do it again this year. The beans hang down on the inside, which makes picking them really easy, and it creates a shady spot to appreciate while you're picking them or just cooling off.
Here are some photos showing how much the beans have grown, how many I picked this morning and a close-up of the beans hanging down through the top of the arbor.
And speaking of e-mail, you can always drop me a note at inthegarden@live.com. I'm really good about responding and always enjoy hearing what you have to say.
