I recently wrote a column about growing tomatoes (Focus on tomatoes after frost fear fades) and mentioned how pleased I've been with red plastic mulch. Ever since I started using the mulch, my tomato plants have been much more productive. Since I live in the Inland Northwest, the heat-loving veggies I grow need all the help they can get, right?
Ever since that column appeared in the newspaper, I've received a lot of emails from readers, asking where they can find the red plastic.
If you live in the Spokane area, you can find it at Northwest Seed & Pet. They have two stores in town, one at Sprague & Altamont and one on North Division St. I just checked with the Sprague & Altamont store and their computer indicates they have 28 of them in stock. They are sold in 3-foot by 24-foot sheets.
Also, I wrote a blog post about the red plastic mulch last May which I thought you might be interested in reading, so here is a link to it.
As always, don't be shy about emailing me at inthegarden@live.com or posting a comment on this blog and I'll be happy to answer your questions.
