UrBin Grower project

Last month, while at the Northwest Flower & Garden Show, I learned about the UrBin Growers (click here to see that post). They are small raised beds kits that come complete with soil amendments and some seed-starting pots.

I think these are a great idea, particularly for folks who just don't have the room for a garden. Maybe they live in an apartment or condo or they just don't have enough sunshine for a conventional vegetable garden. These would work great on a deck or balcony.

I'm in the process of testing one of the UrBin Growers for the raised bed gardening display at the Spokane County Master Gardeners' upcoming open house (Apr. 23 at the Extension Building, 222 N. Havana, Spokane). I've planted it with French Breakfast radishes and four kinds of salad greens.

Even though it's just barely going, I wanted to show it to you so you can see how it works. Once it's a little warmer, I'll move it outdoors onto our deck. Here is a link to the UrBin Grower web site at www.naturesfootprintinc.com so you can read more about the product. I'll keep you posted on how the container is coming along.
